The Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) as one of the national research institutes continues to produce some processed food products that have high nutritional value. Even now LIPI products are considered capable to overcome stunting which recently became an important issue in Indonesia. "LIPI seeks through its researches supporting food and nutrition policies to reduce stunting rates in Indonesia" Head of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), Laksana Tri Handoko.

 On July 3-4, LIPI cooperates with the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, Ministry of National Development Planning/Ministry of National Development Planning (Ministry of PPN / Bappenas), Ministry of Health, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture, Food (Badan POM), National Standardization Body (BSN), and Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education will hold the National Food and Nutrition Widyakarya (WNPG) XI.

 For this year WNPG takes the theme of "Acceleration of Stunting Decline through Revitalizing Food and Nutrition Security in Achieving Sustainable Development Objectives". The target of this activity is the scientific recommendation for the National Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2020-2024.

 WNPG is a multi-stakeholder forum between academia, government, industry and the community to provide direction for changes in food and nutrition policy held every four years since 1968. WNPG XI not only sees the importance of stunting prevention but also the importance of comprehensive preventive intervention against the current stunting issue. There are five main topics discussed in this WNPG XI, which is the first is the improvement of community nutrition. Second, increased accessibility of various foods. Third, the improvement of food security and quality assurance. Fourth, the improvement of clean and healthy life behavior. And, fifth is the coordination of food and nutrition development.

 Handoko explains that the main question to be answered in WNPG XI Year 2018 is how to improve / accelerate the effectiveness of policies, programs and strategies for stunting reduction and prevention in Indonesia. "The objective of the implementation of WNPG XI is to formulate a strategy to accelerate the effectiveness of policies and food and nutrition programs related to stunting prevalence among stakeholders for the next five years, to input RPJMN 2020-2024, in which will come out standard Nutrition Adequacy Scores and is expected to become a reference the next five years, "he said.

On the sidelines of WNPG XI activities in 2018, there is also an exhibition of LIPI research results for the provision of alternative foodstuffs for stunting prevention.
